Annual Status of Education Report
ASER 2006 |
For the second consecutive year, Pratham Mysore participated in the nationwide survey of children,
by visiting their homes and asking them to take a simple test, in the presence of family members. The purpose
of this survey was to estimate their reading, comprehension and arithmetic levels.

This mammoth exercise known as ASER -2006, this year
was implemented and monitored through Pratham Mysore in the districts of Mysore, Chamaraja Nagara,
Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada and Chikkamagalore, by enlisting the support of a network
of NGOs and educational institutions. The University of Mysore deputed its students from the departments
of Education and Social Work for the cause. The survey was organized by the 4 week ends in the month of
Oct 2006.
