Bridge Course Programme

The Bridge Course programme is designed with the assumption that a bridge needs to be built to prepare and support out-of-school children (of primary school age) socially and academically either to enter or re-enter the formal school system.

This programme has the following features:

Targets children in the 6-12 years age group who have never attended school or have dropped out.
Aims at using informal methods of education, gradually moving towards a structured set-up and then placing the children in a formal school.
Classes generally start in the community and move to the local government school building, if space is available.
Comprises of around 15-20 children with a teacher from the local community who has a minimum Std X education.
