SDMC Training at Model Villages_Sujjalur

A training and interaction for SDMC members was held at Sujjalur village on 5th March. This is part of the long term objectives of the Model Village program to enable the community to take over the running of the various initiatives, in a phased manner over three years.
The training was given by Mr. Rachiah and was attended by Mr. Ashwini Ranjan, Founder Trustee of Pratham Mysore, along with Mr. Ashok Rao, Managing Trustee, Mr.Sheshadri, CEO of Pratham Mysore and Mr.Jagadeesh, Head of Programs.

Study Tour to Model Villages_College Outreach Program

Under the College Outreach Program, a study tour for students from St.Philomena’s college was conducted to two of our Model Villages, at Sujjlur and Hykanuru. The visit included a study of Pratham Mysore’s programs in the school, which include remedial education, Learning Spaces and a visit to the Anganwadis in the village, where additional teachers have been provided.
A cultural program was presented by the students of St.Philomena’s, along with engaging the students in games, quiz and other competitions. They also distributed prizes and gifts to the children.
The visit was followed by an interaction, and options for internships at Pratham Mysore.

Distribution of English kits and Tablets under the Global Grant Project

Under the Global Grant Project GGGG1990476, English kits and tablets were distributed to the Headmistress and teachers from selected Government schools. These schools are located in Coorg district, which is a also a part of the Global Grant projects. The event was attended by Mr. Ravi Appaji, Past Governor, District 3181 and Sister Anthony, Coordinator, St.Jospeph’s Convent, Madikeri, where the event was held.
The initiative is part of the project’s efforts to support more schools in remedial education in English, along with sustainability of the project.

Inauguration of a LearningSpaces centre at Mavinahalli

On March 5th at Mavinahalli, one of the four Model Villages, a LearningSpaces centre was inaugurated. The centre was established to cater to the digital needs of the Government Primary School, and the High School located nearby. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ashok Rao, Managing Trustee of Pratham Mysore and Mr. Ashwini Ranjan, Founder Trustee. With this, three out of the four Model Villages have been equipped with LearningSpaces, which aims to bridge the gap in digital education in rural villages.
The inauguration was later followed up with an interaction with the villagers, the school authorities and the village panchayat.

AIISH Health Camp at Model Villages

A health camp was conducted by Mysore’s AIISH (All India Institute of Speech and Hearing) at Muthati on 4th March, 2022. Close to 20 personnel, which included students and doctors, addressed the needs and concerns of the villagers for two days. Along with children of the school, the parents and elders also availed the benefits of the health camp. The AIISH team conducted tests for hearing and speech impairments and they distributed free hearing aids to those who needed it, along with referring to further consultation and guidance on how to avail them at their campus in Mysore.
More of such camps will be conducted in the remaining three Model villages in the coming months.
